A champion for a better future in Louis-Hébert
As a Member of Parliament since 2015, Joël Lightbound has always worked hard for the people of Louis-Hébert.
Joël is a graduate of McGill University, where he studied civil law and common law. Before entering politics, he worked as a lawyer specializing in employment, labour and human rights law.
He has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, the Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. He was a member of the Official Languages; Liaison; Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics; and Public Safety and National Security committees. Most recently, he chaired the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology.
Joël has always been very involved in his community, whether as president of the St. Lawrence College Student Association, vice-president of the Confédération des associations d’étudiants en droit civil, or representative for Quebec at the Parlement francophone des jeunes in Libreville, Gabon. He served on the board of Champlain Regional College.
The residents of Louis-Hébert can once again count on Joël, because he will always be their strong voice in Ottawa.
